Video Fiberscope Home
The VFS2 Wireless Video Fiberscope is the newest all-in-one product upgrade to our video fiberscope line. Other systems manipulate prisms and mirrors to send a video image through bundled fiber optic cable to an attached camera—these methods immediately cut the light and picture quality by 50%. We have mounted our camera chip in the tip of the probe which gives operators a clear view from inside the inspection area. With a light source attached, the fiberscope weighs less than 2 lbs.!
Wireless Operation
Wireless operation of the Video Fiberscope is simple; once the unit is powered-on, it begins transmitting immediately. The newly built-in battery compartment and wireless transmitter means that no external antenna or power supply is needed for operation. The VFS2 is truly an all-in-one unit.
Hard-wired Operation
When an area is not secure for wireless operation, most of our camera systems can be hard-wired to our Handheld Monitor. We provide the needed cable with the VFS2 kit that will allow you to hardwire the system. Switching from wireless mode to hard-wired mode is simple—just plug the cable into the camera and the monitor to terminate the wireless signal!
Probe Operation
The probe of the Video Fiberscope articulates in four directions up to 160 degrees. We have recently downsized the diameter of the probe from 10mm to 8mm. The directional paddles of the fiberscope move the probe in either an up and down or left and right motion when inspecting a device. Each video fiberscope kit includes a small focus tool that can be inserted into the tip of the probe. The tool can then be rotated left or right until the fiberscope is at the desired focal length. The focus tool is hollow so that the picture can be viewed in a monitor while focusing.
Light Sensitivity
Our EOD supplemental light source comes standard with the VFS2 kit but can be exchanged for IR, green, blue, or white on request. This attachable light source, which was originally designed for Navy EOD, operates outside normal light detector parameters. The camera chip of the VFS2 has a 0.005 lux rating meaning that it can clearly see in nearly complete darkness.
Monitors
All of our monitors are completely wireless and have no external antennas, cables, or battery packs; they can receive images in black and white, color, and infrared. Every monitoring option has a 4-channel wireless receiver that can receive video signals from any wireless Tactical Electronics camera. Please see the monitoring options section for more information.
Batteries
Most wireless Tactical Electronics camera systems utilize 3V Lithium batteries for operation. The VFS2 operates over five continuous hours on 4 batteries.
