Tactical Electronics is a beginning to end solution provider for all phases of product development.  This ability has given us the privilege to provide engineering and manufacturing services to the Defense, Energy, Agriculture, Oil & Gas, and Commercial industries since 1999.

The ability to turn an idea into a fully functional elite product entirely in house is a unique service that sets us apart.  From initial idea to the last screw turned, we ensure optimal product design and performance by employing a complete engineering and production team.  Our team consists of mechanical engineering, electrical & software engineering, CNC machining, production, and evaluation departments.

We have completed an array of projects; everything from full size remote control trucks and fully autonomous oil detecting torpedoes to safe wandering bracelets for autistic children.

Problem

Live view and trap feral hogs remotely from a smartphone.

Solution

Through our partnership with the Oklahoma Center for the Advancement of Science & Technology (OCAST), Tactical Electronics teamed up with the Noble Research Institute to create the BoarBuster, a cutting-edge feral hog trapping system that allows property owners to remotely drop a suspended trap via their smart phone. Tactical Electronics provided turn-key engineering for the product, designing the system hardware, firmware, mechanical housings, smart phone app, and website. Once the design was completed, we seamlessly shifted into manufacturing the electronics for the product and ensuring the web service continues to run smoothly.

Problem

Arm employees with a safety device.

Solution

A national convenience store chain tasked Tactical Electronics with designing their next-generation employee-worn security device. Store employees carry an Android-based device running an app developed in-house by Tactical Electronics. Alerts are transmitted from the stores to a central operations center where security personnel can track the location and status of each device, or even access its audio and/or video, through a web app written by Tactical Electronics engineers.

Problem

Develop an encrypted, high definition camera system with Thermal Fusion.

Solution

Tactical Electronics has developed hundreds of cameras and tools for the Department of Defense. Most recently, TE introduced its flagship line of tactical and EOD inspection cameras, CORE. This was the largest engineering effort to date and offers an unprecedented set of features to include: digital, encrypted HD video, camera head modularity, and thermal fusion technology. TE relied upon in-house engineering to complete the CORE design effort. Mechanical design, circuit board layout, and software development ranging from embedded Linux to FPGAs to mobile app programming were all completed in-house.

Problem

Remotely monitor and log data of mechanical equipment in commercial buildings.

Solution

Tactical Electronics addressed their needs for a server, web portal and cloud service to support subscribers with real-time and historical data. We designed a data monitoring product, contained in an IP 67 box, multiple remote sensors, and cellular uplink to the cloud.

A web portal was created for subscribers to monitor their data and an Android app was written for local interface with product. The Android app also gives users access to setup instruction and troubleshooting information. The concept, prototype, and testing of the manufactured units was complete within 6 months.

Problem

Identify the yolk of an oil spill in the Ocean.

Solution

Tactical Electronics designed and developed an autonomous torpedo that can be deployed from a helicopter to survey the oil spill. Once deployed, the torpedo autonomously begins to survey the site with GPS guidance and mapping software. Custom sensors record oil characteristics and push data and real-time video to remote monitoring ships that are several kilometers away from the site. The sensors and software algorithms map out optimized clean-up areas and provide direction to assist oil spill recovery teams. Our design and method was awarded a patent in 2017.
